About Character Color Navigator

Character Color Navigator is a free web tool that helps you decide character color schemes. Pick a single base color and it instantly proposes seven color palettes based on color-wheel relationships. All processing happens in your browser — nothing is uploaded.

  • Color schemes: Seven patterns are generated from color-wheel relationships: monochromatic, analogous, complementary, split complementary, triadic, and two tetradic variants.
  • Color roles: Swatch widths hint at area roles (Base / Sub / Accent). A ratio around 70:25:5 is often cited as a reference — treat it as a starting point, not a rule.
  • Hue wheel diagram: Each palette shows a compact hue wheel indicating where its colors sit on the color wheel. Complementary forms a straight line, triadic a triangle, tetradic a rectangle — so you can learn the structure at a glance.
  • Tone presets: Each preset changes only saturation and lightness while keeping the hue, so the color identity of your character stays intact.
  • Image export: The visible catalog is rendered to a high-resolution (2x) PNG image in your browser.
  • Privacy: All color math and image generation run locally in your browser.
